Remember in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, in Dewford Town, where you met the
massive tools good people in Dewford Hall who snatched up any old trend that came by and wanted to know everything there is to know about it? Kinda like rabid anime fans, but the Dewford trends consisted of any two words in the game’s preset nearly-2000-word vocabulary. It’s perhaps the most memorable part of those games for me, because it was so weird. Because of the limited vocabulary, the trends, even the default ones, are often odd.
To top it off, the people in the hall often act like they barely have an idea what they talk about, given the phrase in question.
What’s in vogue? Why, it has to be [XXX]! I can’t imagine what life would be like without [XXX]!
I’m teaching my pokemon about [XXX], but it’s not going well. It’s a bit too much I think.
This whole business about [XXX] … is there a TV show on it?
I collect official [XXX] licensed merchandise. Official [XXX] dolls, [XXX] brand clothing and official licensed [XXX] picture books.
And now you can experience the weirdness for yourself! Simply give my new Dewford Trend generator a spin and you can randomly generate one of these gems for your own use.
I’m not sure if I’m going to place this link in the main site, or hide it away as a secret, or what-have-you.
Feel free to share any good trends you come across…
Meh. Now I have the flu. Honestly, it’s a bit better knowing I finally have something ‘easy’ after all this anxiety business :P
First off, the tutorial page is now live, featuring a small HTML5 game, Squares (based on a Flash game I quite like). That’s only the tip of the iceberg. Sometime before the end of this year, I’ll be getting my other tutorials up here too.
Games on the games page are now separated according to if they’ve been completed or not. In the not complete list: Project Nightfall and a game that’s yet to be revealed, but should be coming during this year, probably sooner rather than later. It’s not just me, there are 2-3 others involved. The game’s engine is (mostly) solid, and art is coming in, so I can say it’s not a matter of ‘if’ at this point as opposed to ‘when’.
Related to this new game in a small way: The Outsider will probably get an update very soon. What this update does, I won’t say for now. It’ll require some explaining anyway :P
Look for another post if that time comes. Perhaps this week.
Well, I seem to be getting a lot done during the weekends! This weekend, I fitted the First Fantasy page with the content from the game’s previous website (first-fantasy.webs.com), implementing a new page tab system in the process. I also made some slight updates to site-wide CSS and some updates to the home page.
I also made headway by deleting www.freewebs.com/backofmymind and whenthecricketscry.webs.com. The latter I had no real reason to keep up anymore, but the former had been up for 6-7 years. The content there (fiction, I used to be a big writer back in high school), will not be returning. However, there are some files hosted there that may make an appearance in some way on this site as secret pages. The same goes for files on the first-fantasy site which I also backed up today in preparation, on which I saw some early First Fantasy content (early builds and concepts and such).
So there should be more progress next weekend.
